ampliTex™ is a series of natural fibers designed for composites, created with a focus on high performance, low weight, and minimal environmental impact.

Benefits of ampliTex™ 300g

  • High stiffness and strength relative to weight.
  • Optimized for composite use and performance.
  • Consistent and reliable quality between batches.
  • Viscoelastic properties effectively dampening vibrations.
  • Compatibility with common resins such as epoxies, polyesters, and vinyl esters.
  • Low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), working well with carbon fibers (also as tooling).
  • Excellent radio transparency in the RF band (1–40 GHz), even with thick laminates.
  • Extended fatigue life under cyclic loads.
  • Compatibility with techniques such as vacuum infusion, hand laminating, RTM, BIM, autoclave processes, and press molding.
  • When combined with powerRibs™ technology, it allows the creation of natural fiber laminates that match the stiffness of CFRP laminates of the same weight.

Usage Guidelines

  • AmpliTex™ flax fibers naturally bond well with epoxy, polyester, and vinyl ester resins.
  • Flax fiber moisture content is low, but depending on the conditions, it may affect the curing process. If moisture-sensitive, fibers should be dried before laminating (e.g., 1 hour at 60°C, 30 minutes at 85°C, or 15 minutes at 110°C).
  • In hand laminating processes, natural fibers may absorb more resin than glass or carbon fibers, which may give the laminate a dry feel before consolidation.
  • For non-autoclave processes, the recommended resin content is 55–60% by weight of the laminate.

Linen Fiber (Flax) Quality

The quality of the linen fiber, thread thickness, and its twist are carefully designed to ensure optimal mechanical properties in the finished composite element. The fibers undergo special treatment to optimize the interaction at the fiber-matrix interface. We use European flax, and the fiber blend is precisely controlled to ensure consistent quality over time.

Breaking the Convention

Can flax fiber composites provide a more sustainable alternative to traditional composites and plastics?

Already proven in the demanding world of automotive, motorsports, and the equally challenging field of exclusive furniture, Bcomp's innovative ampliTex™ and powerRibs™ solutions are groundbreaking carbon-neutral composite reinforcements made entirely from flax fibers.

PowerRibs is a fabric in the form of ribs made from natural (flax) fibers, designed to significantly increase bending stiffness in thin-walled composites.

PowerRibs creates a structure resembling ribbing, which imitates the venation of a leaf for applications requiring high structural performance. When combined with natural ampliTex™ fibers, it is possible to achieve the same bending stiffness and weight as a monolithic carbon fiber laminate.

The fabric has a width of 1100 mm and is sold by the linear meter.
