Cut carbon fiber flakes (Carbon) from ExaTec, approx. 15mm long.
The material has a very wide range of visual and structural applications. It helps to produce so-called "forged carbon" and is ideal for skinning.
Defined weight units
The fiber is sold by weight and is available in 3 defined sizes - 100 g / 250 g / 500 g.
We buy the size selection by clicking the weight we are interested in next to the "Add to Cart" button
Working with cut fibers
Flake carbon fibre is compatible with all popular resin systems including epoxy, vinyl ester and polyester.
- Hand Lamination:
Chopped carbon fibers are often used in the hand lamination process. Their short length allows for easy conformation to complex shapes, minimizing bridging. They behave similarly to chopped glass fibers, making them ideal for producing carbon fiber molds.
- Infusion:
Chopped carbon fibers can also be used in the resin infusion process. They have good water absorption and are great for filling intricate details where they can replace areas of excess resin and reduce bridging.
- RTM:
Carbon fibers in cut form can be placed in closed molds and then infused with resin via injection. It was in this process that the term "forged carbon" was coined. This technique allows for the creation of inexpensive but efficient molds and high-strength components.
Safety rules
Please note that the fibers are cut into small pieces and may become airborne when poured or stacked. Always wear gloves, goggles and a dust mask.
