Carbon fiber strips/flakes (ExaTec brand) approximately 25mm in length.
The material has a wide range of both visual and structural applications. It creates so-called "forged carbon".
Defined weight units
The fiber is sold by weight and is available in 3 defined sizes – 100 g / 250 g / 500 g.
To select the size, simply click the desired weight next to the "Add to Cart" button."
Working with chopped fibers
Chopped carbon fibers are compatible with all popular resin systems, including epoxy, vinyl ester, and polyester.
- Hand Laminating:
Chopped carbon fibers are often used in the hand laminating process. Their short length allows them to easily conform to complex shapes, minimizing bridging effects. They behave similarly to chopped glass fibers, making them an ideal solution for manufacturing carbon fiber molds.
- Resin infusion:
Chopped carbon fibers can also be used in the resin infusion process. They have good absorbency and work well for filling complex details, where they can replace excess resin areas and reduce bridging.
- RTM:
Chopped carbon fibers can be placed in closed molds and then saturated with resin through injection. It is in this process that the term "forged carbon" was coined. This technique allows for the creation of cost-effective yet high-performance molds and components with excellent strength.
Safety precautions
Please note that the fibers are cut into small pieces and may become airborne when pouring or handling. Always wear gloves, safety glasses, and a dust mask.
